India will not come to Bangladesh, will also withdraw from Asia Cup

The Indian cricket team was scheduled to tour Bangladesh in the second half of August to play three ODIs and three T20Is. But amid the Indo-Pakistan military tensions, the chances of Rohit Sharma and Ribat Kohli's tour to Bangladesh have plummeted. Even the Asia Cup, which was scheduled to be held in September, may be postponed.

Shortly after the IPL season was postponed for a week on Friday, the Indian media outlet Times of India published a report stating that the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is considering pulling out of Bangladesh and the Asia Cup.

Why is BCCI taking such a decision? Is it because of the deteriorating relations with Bangladesh?

No, it's not like that. Rather, the BCCI is taking this decision for their own convenience.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) fears that their country's military tensions with Pakistan will not ease anytime soon. This means that the situation may not be ready to resume the IPL after a week or it may take more time for the situation to normalize.

If the tension and war situation worsens, the IPL will have to be postponed further. This means that the BCCI will have to organize the remaining 16 matches of the tournament at another time of the year.

Considering that, India may decide to cancel the Bangladesh tour and withdraw from the Asia Cup. The authorities will organize the remaining matches of the IPL during this period.

India will tour England in the first week of June to play a five-match Test series. The series will end on August 4. Rohit is scheduled to arrive in Bangladesh after that.

That is, if the IPL cannot be completed by this May, then the BCCI will have to choose the August-September window to organize the rest of the tournament. Besides, there is no other option open. That is why India is considering canceling the August tour of Bangladesh.

If India withdraws from the Asia Cup, this tournament may also be cancelled, as India itself is the host of the upcoming event.
